Join three Old Town School master musicians - Chris Walz, Mark Dvorak, and Paul Kaye - for an afternoon honing your acoustic blues knowledge and playing skills. In each workshop, you'll meet with your teacher on a specific topic, then join the group for a culminating Blues jam with all three teachers.
Acoustic Blues For Beginners with Mark Dvorak
Mark will have you playing a shuffle rhythm, teach a blues turnaround, throw in some of Brownie McGhee’s basic approach, get things going with a little Big Bill Broonzy swing, and top it off with a little bit of Mississippi John Hurt finger style.

Breakin' It Down: Hot Licks, Cool Chords & More with Paul Kaye
If you can “shuffle a blues” and Travis-pick a little ragtime but you’re ready to “take it up a notch,” then is workshop is for you. Paul will introduce the cool chords, hot licks, and toe tapping rhythms of the acoustic blues guitarist. And then he’ll demonstrate how easy it is to integrate into a self-accompanied, solo style that can have you sounding like a one-man blues band.

Slide It On Over: Tips & Tricks for Bottleneck Slide with Chris Walz
Playing bottleneck slide is easier than it looks. Chris will show you how to let the guitar tuning work for you to play great sounding Blues. Bring your guitar, a slide, and a capo and you'll get the rest at the workshop. Tabs and tuning charts will be handed out. A group Blues jam will follow theworkshop.
